Corey's Sklar Gets Ridden

A lot of demos and staff bikes end up on here because we have more time with them. But every now and again it’s lovely to just show a great bike that we haven’t refurbished or renovated or reinvigorated, and this is a great one! Corey brought this little feller by for a clean and tune and all that good stuff, but before our greasy mitts ruined it we snapped some pictures in its ridden state.

You don’t get too much of a break from the usual posts though, because by pure chance this Sklar features a lot of our favourite things! If this beaut and its purple White Industries accents looks familiar it’s because it was a show bike that Corey was lucky enough to snag after the events center went back to hosting Jason Derulo concerts, boat shows, and the Dallas Mavericks FanFest.

Nowadays this is no show bike. The paint is scuffed and chipped and dirty, and the tires are getting less and less knobbly. But that’s how it should be. Is it really a bike if you don’t ride it? Hell no it’s not. It’s a bunch of wasted metal, rubber, plastics, and whatever DOT fluid is made of. (They say it’s not water-based, but Matt says it tastes like water…) This is a beautifully-crafted bike.

See? That’s an absolutely stunning headtube taper with unbelievable flanges! But it’s scuffed to hell. AS IT SHOULD BE.

And it’s always nice to finish off a build and a post with a White Industries R30.
