NOW IN NEON! (Not literally in a stand, don't worry)
This one is a little different. In like a few ways. Ultimately our best explanation is that this was a “late night decision and we wanted a neon sign.” (Little known fact: the first round of Polka Dot Jersey business cards featured the motto “A Late Night Decision” under the shop name.) This installation (2020, neon) features the motto of another Seattle bicycle late night decision, mountain bike coaching system and co-host of those gargantuan Tokul shop rides Smooth Jazz Lines.
So what is Smooth Jazz Lines? According their website, it’s a “non-hierarchical affiliation of Facilitators.” And a “network of community learning patterns.” SJL is a fun account on Instagram run by our friend Chip that took off and became a point of interest in the northwest mountain bike multiverse. Follow for good advice on holistic mountain bike skills and a solid selection of democratic socialist memes. When the pandemic recedes, SJL and PDJ will be hosting more and more “Facilitation Sunday” group rides where you can ask Chip directly what the hell Smooth Jazz Lines is, and how their Facilitated Trail Knowledge Stratagems can elevate you to the Green Zone if you open your Third Eye to loam. In the meantime, fax the shop at (206) 328-5400 to begin enrollment in the Smooth Jazz Lines program, or DM @smoothjazzlines on Instagram for direct trailside support and advice on how to get high in the time of COVID-19.
